Join us and help build community.
Our volunteers aren’t just doing work, they are helping to build community around people who need one. We encourage our volunteers to view service differently. Every task, no matter the size or visibility, is meaningful because it meets tangible needs and shows people that someone cares.
What kind of volunteer needs are there?
Our greatest need is in groceries and meal service (requiring 20+ volunteers daily), followed by office support and pick-up/deliveries. If you have particular skills are interests in working with the residents in our program, please ask about getting involved with Resident Programs during your orientation.
PLEASE NOTE: Winchester Rescue Mission’s volunteer program does not participate in court-ordered community service. However, a neighboring community partner - “Our Health” - may be able to help you. Click here to go to their page.
When do we need volunteers?
Most volunteer shifts start weekdays between 8:00 AM and 4:00 PM, as well as during weekend meal times. After attending orientation, you can browse needs and sign-up to volunteer using the POINT app.
What’s the first step to volunteering?
Sign-up for one of our orientations listed below. The process starts with an online Orientation Primer covering our mission and policies. Afterward, you’ll attend the in-person orientation where we will answer questions, give a tour, and help you get started.
Sign up for an Orientation
You will use the POINT app to find and sign-up for all volunteer activities, including orientations. To sign up for orientation, you’ll l need to sign-in or create a free POINT account if you don’t already have one. This also ensures you receive important reminders, updates, and instructions ahead of orientation. If you have any questions, or don’t see any dates below, contact Emily Child at echild@winrescue.org
