Join us and help build community.

Our volunteers aren’t just doing work, they are helping to build community around people who have lost theirs. We encourage our volunteers to think about volunteer service differently - to see volunteering as doing things with our residents and community members, rather than doing things for them.

NOTE: Winchester Rescue Mission’s volunteer program does not participate in court-ordered community service. However, a neighboring community partner - “Our Health” - may be able to help you. Click here to go to their page.

  • Most of our volunteer needs are in food service, followed by office support and transportation. It takes more than 20 volunteers each day to keep our food ministry running.

We also welcome volunteers who can offer their unique skills to educate or enrich the lives of our program residents. If you're interested, ask about getting involved with resident programs during your orientation.

  • Virtually all of our volunteering needs are during the Weekdays between 8:00AM and 6:30PM and on the Weekends for lunch and dinner service. You can browse specific volunteer opportunities in the POINT app once you have attended an orientation.

  • Attend one of our volunteer orientations, typically held twice a month and listed below. Before the in-person session, you'll complete an online Orientation Primer that covers our history, ministry, culture, methods, goals, policies, and procedures. During the in-person orientation, we’ll go deeper—answering your questions, giving you a tour, and walking you through what to expect when you volunteer.

Sign up for an Orientation

We use the POINT app to schedule and coordinate all volunteer activities, including orientations. To sign up for orientation, you’ll need to sign in or create a free POINT account if you don’t already have one. This also ensures you receive important reminders, updates, and instructions ahead of orientation. If you have any questions, or don’t see any dates below, contact Emily Child at echild@winrescue.org
