Who We ARE

A Message from our Executive Directors Message- January 2022

When COVID hit in March 2020, Winchester Rescue Mission prepared for an increase in need and outbreaks in our facilities. Instead, we saw less demand for our services and an incredibly generous community coming to our aide. But things changed dramatically as we entered the third quarter of 2021. The need for our services drastically increased with outbreaks of COVID, and our capacity to house folks was pushed beyond our ability to serve. The year 2021 proved to be the toughest year in the Mission’s History.

Ephesians 3:20-21 says, “Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us, to Him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus to all generations, forever and ever. Amen.” We give God glory because even with the incredible increase in need, we accomplished far more than we thought possible through the support of our staff, volunteers and donors. We even had a record number of clients successfully move out of the Mission.

Our response to the increasing needs in our community is to open a larger facility on Valley Avenue. We know the months ahead will bring even greater demands, but with God’s leading, and the dedication of our staff, volunteers, and donors, we know 2022 will be the best year yet.
